Stonewall American rum is named for the fences along property lines in early colonial American, which is noteworthy in the local lore of Pennsylvania. The production is meant to be as close to the original colonial production of rum (and colonial American were enormous consumers of rum) from that time period featuring a molasses-base and a light oak aging. It’s as classic a colonial rum as we could get: It’s molasses-based and lightly oaked. The aroma has notes of honey and ginger ale, while butterscotch and soft wood are noticeable when drinking.

Prentiss Orr, co-owner of Glenshaw’s Pennsylvania Pure Distilleries, maker of Boyd & Blair vodka has completed the first release of Stonewall American Rum, named for the fences that separated properties in the early U.S. colonies. “It’s as classic a colonial rum as we could get: It’s molasses-based and lightly oaked,” says Master Distiller Rob Ricci. Fermentation: 21 days in stainless steel fermentors. Distillation: Twice distilled in 1,200 liter copper pot stills. Aging: Aged in new White American Oak with medium char. Blending: Blending is performed by taste in quantities of 15-20 barrels at a time. Bottling: Bottled and wax-sealed by hand.  Never filtered.
