Pussers Rum 750ml
Pussers Rum collection has had a bit of a revamp. While their Blue Label is still made with the exact same blend of rums – a recipe from the Admiralty – it is now bottled at 40% abv rather than 54.5% abv. The reasoning behind this is it allows Pusser’s to be distributed to Naval bases, where the maximum allowed strength is 40%.
If you’re looking for the original 54.5% version, then fear not! It has now been rebranded as Pusser’s ‘Gunpowder Proof’ Black Label.
Pussers Rum, known as “The single malt of rum” is still produced in exact accordance with the admiralty’s specifications for rum. Unlike most rums, Pusser’s uses no flavoring agents. It is 100% natural.
Charles Tobias continues today as CEO of Pusser’s and its legendary rum, which is said by experts and epicureans alike to be rich and full-bodied, with an unsurpassed smoothness due to its natural ingredients. Pusser’s costs a little more because it is more expensive to produce.
It is predominantly a “Pot-stilled” rum. The distillation process is similar to that used for single malt scotches, which produces greatly enhanced flavor. Served neat or on the rocks, or mixed in the famous Caribbean-inspired recipe such as the pusser’s painkiller you will enjoy the full and natural flavor of Pusser’s rum – and will really discern the big difference between Pusser’s and all other rums!
Dark brown rum distilled from molasses. Blend of rums aged in used whisky and bourbon barrels. As close as you will find to the rum drunk by Royal Navy sailors until July 31, 1970. Stronger than the red label.
Peanut brittle, chocolate raisins, old oak, and good sherry.
Banana, ground clove, ginger root, and crunchy brown sugar. A touch of baklava, too.
Caramel and cinnamon warmth.
