Laphroaig 10 Years Old is a full-bodied, smoky gem, with a residual sweetness and a hint of salt amid the seaweedy, peaty characters before a long warming finish. A classic dram. Really smoky and iodine-rich. This has to be one of Scotland’s most characterful drams. Laphroaig 10 Years Old is known for its medicinal malts, and the classic 10-year-old is no exception.

A powerful and lifted nose of burnt bread and flint. The intense smokiness is balanced with a mushroom earthiness and orange peel. The opulent and pronounced style of Islay scotch is especially obvious in this classic example. Behind the obvious peatiness on the nose lurks a beautiful array of scents: smoke, decay, iodine, leather, seawater, charcoal, and wet stone. After opening up, taffy, peanut butter fudge, and sweetly viscous gumminess are present, herbal ocean tones underlying still.
