Jefferson’s Very Small Batch Bourbon is a contract-distilled bourbon made from four different bourbon recipes. This Very Small Batch Bourbon is the ‘entry’ level of the Jefferson’s portfolio. This “ridiculously small batch bourbon” is made from a blend of bourbons with barrels that range in age from 8-12 years. Bottled at 82.3 proof.

Jefferson’s flagship bourbon is where they define the Jefferson’s taste: big and bold with hints of spice, toffee and leather. Jefferson’s is the perfect marriage of four different recipes of bourbon, one of which is an elder statesman. The result is bourbon that, like Thomas Jefferson, is sophisticated, complex and unforgettable.

This ‘Very Small Batch’ bourbon has been aged in barrels with a very light char, allowing a myriad of secondary flavours to express themselves that would otherwise be masked by a heavier char. The result is a very approachable, easy-drinking bourbon of the highest quality.

Made with a mashbill of 60 per cent corn, 30 per cent rye, and 10 per cent malted barley, this 6-10-year-old bourbon is aged in barrels with a very light No.1 char. The Jefferson’s brand name pays homage to the third President of the United States: Thomas Jefferson, instrumental in America’s Independence in 1783 and the man credited with writing the Declaration of Independence. It seems appropriate that it was Jefferson himself who was at the heart of the Whiskey Rebellion in 1791, during which he repealed the tax on whiskey and turned Americans from rye to bourbon.

Nose:

Very crisp and fresh on the nose, lots of creamy vanilla and warm, spicy flavour. Notes of oak, toffee, hints of smoke.

Palate:

 Soft, warming and supple. Notes of sweet vanilla, spices, toffee, berry fruits, a touch of orange zest, spices and honey.

Finish:

Soft and easy-going, very quaffable as it fades out on notes of vanilla sweetness, custard and corn.
