Freeland Bourbon Whiskey takes all American bourbon and elevates it to new Pacific Northwest heights with their Freeland Bourbon. Freeland Spirits blends three-year-old and 12-year-old bourbons after aging in newly charred American oak barrels. They rest the blend in pinot noir barrels from Oregon’s Elk Cove. It’s this added time that gives the Bourbon it’s Pacific Northwest taste.

The velvety smooth Bourbon boasts distinct notes of soft caramel, vanilla bean, cocoa and baked berries. Freeland Bourbon was launched November, 2018. When I first starting dreaming up the idea of a distillery three years ago, I partnered with a distillery to get our first bourbon in barrels. We then finished it for five months in Elk Cove Winery pinot noir barrels . In the meantime, our beautiful still is working its magic to create future Freeland whiskies.

From Portland Oregon, Freeland happens to be one of the few entirely female owned and operated distilleries in history.  It’s a blend of 3- and 12-year-old bourbons—sourced, as Freeland opened its doors in 2017—finished in Elk Cove Winery pinot noir barrels and bottled at 92 proof. The mash bill is 70% corn, 20% rye, and 10% malt. Together with biochemist-turned-distiller Molly Troupe, she launched Freeland gin, a house-distilled spirit, in December 2017. This bourbon is the distillery’s second spirit.
