Delord 25 Year Old Bas-Armagnac

Delord 25 Year Old comes a bottling of sublime and unbelievably great value Bas-Armagnac, with a delightful wooden presentation box. It was distilled from four different grape varieties, Ugni Blanc, Colombard, Baco and Folle-Blanche before it was matured in oak barrels for 25 years.

 

Delord 25 Year Old Bas-Armagnac has received 5-star reviews from both Wine Enthusiast Magazine and Spirit Journal and was also awarded the Chairman’s Trophy (the top prize) at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge in 2011.

Owned and operated by three generations of the Delord family, the House of Delord has been making armagnac since the 1890s when the patriarch of the family purchased a vineyard in Lannepax in Bas-Armagnac.

Delord grows all four of the major armagnac varietals (ugni blanc, colombard, Baco blanc, and folle-blanche) without pesticides or fertilizers. They distill their eaux-de-vie on-site either in traditional continuous stills or in a double-distillation process.

 

The new-make spirit of the former goes into older bottlings, whereas the double distilled new-make typically goes into younger bottlings. This armagnac is aged at least twenty-five years. Bottled at 40% ABV. Bold but not lacking in subtlety, the Delord 25 year Armagnac is a great example of what armagnac should be!

 

The nose is dense and woody with notes of orange, prune, allspice and dried flowers. The palate picks up where the aromatics left off with lush fruit. Flavors of peach, dates, orange, bananas and cherry round things off. This spirit is big, playful, and aromatic and wood pervades everything here in the best way possible.
