Nielson 2015 Pinot Noir Santa Barbara County
$59.00 $50.15
In 1964, Uriel Nielson planted the first commercial vineyard in Santa Barbara County. It was a bold act considering most of the experts deemed our windswept region too cold for grapes. Fortunately, Uriel didn’t heed their warnings and one of the world’s great winegrowing regions was born. At Nielson, we honor the vision and persistence of our namesake, as we continue to harvest grapes from the best parts of this coastal enclave. Since the early 1980’s Santa Barbara County has been recognized as one of California’s great wine regions.
Tasting Notes
Moderately light reddish purple color in the glass. Fragrant with aromas of cherry, rose and oak. A solid, easy drinking wine, with juicy mid weight black cherry flavor and a pretty good tug of oak. There is an earthy undertone and a hint of iron-driven minerality adding interest. The tannins are supple and the velvety mouthfeel is appealing.
