Balvenie 21 Yr Scotch Whiskey Port Wood Cask 750 ml
Balvenie 21 Yr Scotch Whiskey, a marriage of rare Balvenie, was impressively finished in 30 year old port pipes. Originally released in 1996, this whisky is a veritable masterclass in poise and balance. It’s fruity and very subtly smoky, the perfect after-dinner dram. An additional period of maturation in 30 year-old port pipes has given this aged Balvenie an extra level of depth and concentration of flavour, adding potent fruit and smoke notes to the silky-smooth full-bodied palate. Rich, indulgent, after-dinner Speyside at its best.
The nose begins with the classic characteristics of the Speyside malt. It is rich a fruity, almost as if someone poured a fruit bowl into the cask. Bursts of peach and juicy apples explode in the nose, piquing the interests of the taste buds and complement by a nice nutty undertone.
To create this remarkable Single Malt, rare 21 Year Old Balvenie is transferred to a cask which has held fine port wine, for additional ageing. Creamy on the palate and silky, with fruit, honey and spice notes on the refined, long, gentle, nutty finish. The Balvenie Port Wood 21 Year Old is a masterful piece of art. If it were to be hung in a gallery t would the National Gallery and it would be the most popular exhibit.
