Meaning ‘the original’ in Gaelic, A’bunadh is made in homage to Aberlour’s founder, James Fleming. A’bunadh is a whisky hand-made from start to finish with each batch being created to ensure a rich and complex flavour of moist raisin, and homemade fruit cake. Behold, the 63rd batch of A’Bunadh from Aberlour! This expression is well-known for it’s particular intense flavour profile, imparted by the maturation in Spanish Oloroso sherry butts and by being bottled at cask strength – this batch, it sits at a burly 61% ABV. Also, 63 is the atomic number of Europium. That’s a fun fact that you can bring to parties alongside this bottle. Much better than turning up with no facts and tasty whisky.

Nose:

Buttered malt loaf, sherried peels, spearmint and Christmas cake.

Palate:

Dark chocolate mousse and yet more Christmas cake richness. Cinnamon and white pepper give it plenty of heat.

Finish:

Very slightly earthy on the finish, though dried fruit and sugared almond notes remain.
