The Walking Dead Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
The Walking Dead Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is something. We first took note of a number of months ago when a bottling label was approved for it by the TTB. What we have here is a whiskey, done in partnership with Skybound Entertainment, that is a nonage statement in nature and bottled at 94 proof. Each clear glass bottle is “marked ‘safe-zone approved’ with a label that bears the comic’s trademark logo and sealed cork with an ‘RGrimes’ signature of authenticity.”
The Walking Dead Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a collaboration between the Spirits of the Apocalypse. Diageo, and Skybound Entertainment, the firm behind The Walking Dead comic series. With a light caramel nose, taste of fruit, and a smooth and spicy finish. This limited edition release is bottled at 47% ABV. Enjoy neat, on the rocks, or in whiskey cocktails. Share with ‘Walkers’ and those who love them.
Appearance / Color :
Nose / Aroma / Smell :
On the nose, this projects some classic Kentucky bourbon notes: Mint, stone fruit (peach), caramel, light oak, and something a bit less familiar, like pears in heavy syrup. It smells like something in my personal wheelhouse, and oddly familiar if I’m being honest. I get the feeling I’ve likely sampled this in some other form before.
Flavor / Taste / Palate :
On the palate, most of these notes are replicated peachy stone fruity and a combination of dark honey and caramel richness, with a dollop of vanilla buttercream, complemented by later-developing notes of pepper and grassiness.
The finish is medium to long and lightly dry.
