The Dalmore 12 Year Old Scotch Whisky 750ml
$149.00 $126.65
Launched in late 2008 to replace the previous 12 year old, this single malt from the Dalmore distillery is a toasty, coffee-rich dram with beautifully spice notes and a thick mouthfeel. Very rich for a 12 year old.
Dalmore 12 is aged for the first nine years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks before half is transferred to ex-oloroso sherry casks for the final three years. The result is a whisky with a combination of sweetness and rich, sherried flavors.
A nose of sweet, dried apricot, candied figs, and honey-butter put this in a more is more camp. The palate shows an indulgent cascade of toffee, orange preserve, and sweet cream. All hedonistic pleasure without a touch of smoke.
An outstanding single malt matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks and finessed in rare and aged oloroso sherry casks.
This particular single malt spends the first nine years of its aging process housed in ex-bourbon barrels before half of the whisky is separated out. One half of the whisky remains in ex-bourbon barrels, while the other is aged in 30-year-old Gonzalez Byass Matusalem oloroso sherry butts for the remaining three years. The two halves of The Dalmore 12 are then brought back together as a single finished product.
Nose:
A warm coffee house in Seattle; roasting beans, the oily nuttiness in a fine espresso, there are little notes of malt and cereal and butter from the pastry counter with rich orange from the fruit bowl on the counter.
Palate:
Notes of Seville marmalade and triple sec with winter spices and fruitcake. Zesty cocoa and milk chocolate.
Finish:
Medium, oranges.
