English Harbour is a rum from Antigua. English Harbour 5 Year old was a Double Gold winner at the 2005 San Francisco Competition. English Harbour rum is named after the scenic port on the Caribbean island of Antigua in the Leeward Islands. The largest natural harbour in the Caribbean, for years this served as an important naval base and is now a popular anchorage with yachtsman. English Harbour rum is made at Antigua Distillery, the only distillery on the island.
The bouquet sparkles with notes of bark, oak, brown sugar, bacon fat, sautéed banana and maple. The palate entry is creamy, toffee-like and silky; the midpalate offers flavors of pastry, chocolate fudge, nougat, chestnut and honey. Finishes harmoniously with the sweet flavor gracefully melded to the texture. A perfect oak-aged molasses rum. 98 points and Best Buy, Wine Enthusiast. The nose is oaky and fruity with notes of gentle stone fruits and spice. The palate is full of orchard fruit notes, a little tropical fruit and winter spice, notes of smoke and tropical tiki cocktails. The finish is sweet and spiced.
