The Chateau la Fleur Peyrabon has a perfumed, floral bouquet not a million miles away from Margaux. I appreciate the definition and freshness here. The palate is medium-bodied, not a powerful Pauillac but very elegant. The tannins here seem very fine and there is wonderful tension towards the finish. Maybe not a long-term proposition-it may need more body-but it is a beautiful wine that should give a lot of pleasure over the next 10-15 years.
This is pretty closed down. Feel the weight and the swagger of the tannins, it’s a good wine but more foursquare and old school than many Pauillacs who have worked their tannins a little more silkily this year.
This Chateau la Fleur Peyrabon wine comes from a 17-acre portion of the Peyrabon estate that is in Pauillac. Bottled separately, it has a high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon that gives great richness as well as structure. This rich, age-worthy wine will likely be ready to drink from 2023.
Chateau La Fleur Peyrabon is a red wine produced in the Pauillac appellation. This Cru Bourgeois is planted with vines that are, on average, 20 years old and cover just over 7 hectares. The terroir is composed of sandy gravel on clay subsoil. The 2016 harvest took place in two phases. Merlot was harvested from September 29th – October 6th, while Cabernet Sauvignon was picked on October 12th, 15th and 18th.
