Chateau Fonbadet Pauillac 2015 wine comes from a 50-acre crus bourgeois estate in the middle of some of the greatest crus classés estates. The terroir is impressive and produces a rich, structured wine with good concentration, ripe tannins and a sumptuous bed of black fruits. The wine is likely to age well; drink from 2025.
A totally sexy, voluptuous wine, the Chateau Fonbadet Pauillac 2015 is terrific. A rush of dark cherry jam, wild flowers, mint, espresso and licorice gives 2015 its decidedly exotic, voluptuous personality. Silky tannins and plush fruit add to the wine’s sumptuousness.
There is a presence to the 2015 that is hard to describe but that has been present each of the three times I have tasted it so far. Simply put, Fonbadet is gorgeous in 2015.
A rich and ripe Pauillac that shows currant and sweet-tobacco character. Full-bodied, rich and layered with a long and flavorful finish. Needs two or three years to mellow out. Try in 2020.
Tasted on three separate occasions, the 2015 Château Fonbadet is a rock-solid effort in the vintage, as well as a terrific value. A medium to full-bodied, mouth-filling, ripe Pauillac that has good acidity, classic notes of plums, mulberries, spice and dried tobacco, moderate tannin, and outstanding length, drink it anytime over the coming 10-15 years.
Chateau Lafite, Chateau Mouton-Rothschild, Chateau Lynch Bages and Chateau Pichon Baron. Fonbadet’s vineyards are a miracle of geolocation in being more or less bumped up against all of these Chateau’s vineyards in among the BEST plots in Pauillac.
