Cardenal Mendoza unique Spanish brandy is aged, like a sherry, in a solera made from casks that previously held fine Pedro Ximénez and oloroso sherries, imparting an incredible richness and complexity to the spirit.

Originally produced in 1887 for the exclusive use of the Sanchez Romate family and close friends, and is still made the same way today. Round and smooth with a rich palate and finish.

From sunny Spain, the Cardenal Mendoza Solera Gran Reserva is aged using the Solera system, which they say produces a brandy with an average age of 15 years. We like to think there might have been a time where someone misheard their manager and aged the brandy next to a stack of Solero ice-creams, but, we fear this is probably unlikely.

Cardenal Mendoza Clásico is a Solera Gran Reserva Brandy created from a selection of the best holandas (the finest spirit, distilled slowly in alquitaras or pot stills) which are aged in the traditional system known as soleras and criaderas.

Cardenal Mendoza Clásico is an exceptional Brandy de Jerez, aged for an average of 15 years in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez Sherry Wine casks.

One of the biggest soleras in Jerez, the scale of this solera guarantees proper aging for an average of fifteen years and exceptional quality for the Brandy Cardenal Mendoza Clásico.

In 1877 the Sánchez Romate family started producing brandy for private consumption. Word of its fine quality spread and the bodega decided to bottle it for commercial sale with the name Cardenal Mendoza.

The aromas are well-rounded and elegant with distinct notes of plums, sultanas, and must.

Flavor / Taste / Palate:

The flavor is rich with ample sweet notes of dates, blackberry preserves, and figs along with notes of walnuts and old leather.

The finish is medium length, sweet, and fragrant.
