In 2013, Thierry Matrot made his reds in an earlier drinking style, as he believes that the wines will be better in their primary, fruity phase rather than with years of ageing behind them; the result for his Maranges, with its 50+ year old vines, is a delicious vibrant wine, with bright red cherry fruit, spiced and grassy with a note of oriental spice and a lovely long finish.
