Some of the other botanicals that give Absinthe Ordinaire its unique and flavorful taste profile include Sweet Anise, Star Anise, Sweet Balm, Mugwort (rumored to stir human passions, perhaps the French touch!), and peppermint.

This is made in Forcalquier at Distilleries-Domaines de Provence in the south of France. It is distilled using the same artisanal methods from late nineteenth-century Paris.  Absinthe Ordinaire recalls one of the earliest absinthe recipes and the first commercially successful absinthe brand.

Wormwood, or Artemisia Absinthium, is a perennial herb that contains the volatile oil thujone. Wormwood is a hardy perennial, almost shrubby, growing up to 4 feet tall, its spreading branches covered with white, silky hairs. The leaves are spread apart and have an intense, persistent bitter flavor. The leaves are very pungent. They produce a sharp, acrid smell. Wormwood grows best in poor, dry sandy soils in a sunny location.
