Glenlivet Caribbean Cask Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky
The Glenlivet Caribbean Cask Reserve is a true summertime single malt. A portion of it was finished in Caribbean rum barrels, which impart it with rich and fresh sweet and tropical fruit notes. The prominent banana, mango starfruit, apple, and pear notes make up an exceptionally fruity profile that is perfect for sipping or as a base for a Mai Tai with a single malt twist.
A tropical expression from The Glenlivet, for Caribbean Reserve a portion of the whisky was finished in casks which previously held Caribbean rum. The distillery folks suggest adding a splash of coconut water, though we reckon a malty twist on a Mai Tai is on the cards!
he rum barrel finishing definitely makes a presence on the nose, but it’s more of a background note than hitting you on the fore. Malty notes play well with the orange, coconut, and a slight char smoke. On the palate, the body is medium full and oily. Fruity and sweet with that rum back note, the finish is a bit on the short side. But while Caribbean Reserve is present, it’s pleasant. Try this in a Whisky Sour.
A bold single malt with a tropical twist, Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve has been finished in casks that previously held Caribbean rum. Aromas of pear, red apple, overripe bananas and sticky honey fill the nose, complemented by notes of caramel, toffee, pineapple and mango throughout the palate.
