Glenlivet 18 Year Batch Reserve Scotch Whisky
The name Glenlivet 18 Year Batch had become synonymous with “quality” and would be used by others producing whisky despite how far away from the Livet Glen. In fact, the owner had to apply for sole rights to the name which were finally granted in 1884. To this day, the name crops up on other independent bottlings, but must be hyphenated. No other whisky can be called “The Glenlivet”, however. This 18 year bottling is aged in a combination of both American and European oak.
A malt whisky of unmistakable honey-rich maturity and depth. Glenlivet 18yo is the winner of 2 gold medals in the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) and remains one of the best-value expressions of sherried Speyside.
Vibrant orange-amber color and a warm, citrusy scent. Expect lots of honey and caramel from the get-go, winding into an interestingly dry and lingering finish entwining leather, cocoa, coconut and ginger.
This excellent Glenlivet 18 Year Batch single malt Scotch whisky from Glenlivet is a classic Speyside dram, matured in a combination of first and second fill American oak and sherry casks. It also won two golds at the International Wine and Spirits Competition.
Quite big and well-rounded. There are notes of chewy sultanas and Sherried peels, barley sugars and toasty cereals with petals and apple blossom. A touch of fudge and gentle wisps of smoke.
Full and rich with notes of chewy, tannic oak. Manuka honey and walnut with Cox’s apples and orange peels. Cut herbs – fennel and spearmint.
Long and dry with a spicy oak note.
