Glenkinchie Distillers Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky 750ml
$188.98 $160.63
Single malt from the Glenkinchie Distillers Edition in the Lowlands, distilled back in 2007 and allowed a finishing period in Amontillado sherry casks. Amontillado is traditionally quite nutty, and particularly quite rich, too. A perfect partner for the light, grassy, fragrant malts of Glenkichie! This Distillers Edition expression was bottled in 2019, following the aforementioned Amontillado finish.
Golden brown in colour, Glenkinchie Distillers Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky displays sharp and brittle notes. Complex and refined, an astonishing balance between the sweet and dry flavours of vanilla and grape. The malted barley and cask wood offer nuttier tones and a complex oaky finish.
“A special Limited Edition from hand-selected casks, double matured in elegant Amontadillo cask-wood chosen to compliment the whisky’s sophisiticated balance between sweet and dry, this Distiller’s Edition reveals a fascinating, complex and malty depth in Glenkinchie’s lowalnd character.”
The 1996 vintage of Glenkinchie Distillers Edition range – This single malt expression is finished in Amontillado sherry casks to add more fruity flavours to the traditionally light spirit. Fruity nose with honey, vanilla, and hints of wood. On the palate, the whisky is light, with more honey and fruits, with a hint of pepper spice. A long, fruity and slightly spicy finish.
Nose:
Brisk, sharp and brittle. An excellent nose; astonishing balance and complexity between sweet and dry. The slightly firmer, drier notes are provided by very soft vanillins and crisp grape; the sweeter, nuttier ones by the malted barley and possibly the Spanish oak.
Palate:
Initially sweet, high quality sherry that gracefully moves to velvety Marashino cherry. The initial sweetness gives way to dry, spicy cinammon sticks. Nice complexity.
Finish:
Cigar & esspresso coffee.  This finish is puckering dry. The crushed velvet texture of this scotch is memorable.
