Barsol Pisco Primero Quebranta From Peru 700ml

Barsol Pisco Primero Nosing this glass is a whiff of stiff autumn sea breeze with wisps fruit aromas. It’s incredibly clean on the palate with notes of dried apricot and citrus fruit, all with a backbone of spice and even a hint of minerality. Complex and pleasing all at once.

Produced from wine resulting from the fermentation of 100% Quebranta grapes from the Ica Valley, BarSol Primero Quebranta is distilled in small batches using classic pisco pot distillation and is distilled to bottle proof with neither water or any other ingredients added after distillation.

A Peruvian puro pisco made with Quebrante grapes to create a straight-up, non-aromatic pisco, as is popular back in Peru.

The entry level expression for the Barsol pisco range, the Primero Quebranta is made with 100% Quebranta grapes from the Ica region of Peru. Sure to serve as a great introduction to the traditional spirit.

Production was revived at the historic Bodega San Isidro in 2002 after having been mothballed for 34 years. Although certain aspects of the facility were updated, including the introduction of a modern bladder press to replace the antique basket presses formerly used to press the grapes, distillation is still carried out by hand the old-fashioned way. Peruvian Pisco by law cannot contain added water or additives of any kind.

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Faintly smoky pear, hay, cut grass, dried banana, crusty white baguette, asparagus, apricot blossom and raspberry jam.

Taste:

Slightly sweet vanilla custard cream biscuits, green grapes, cut grass and black pepper spice with pecan and ripe dark berry fruit.

Aftertaste:

Cracked white pepper, creamy vanilla, ripe pear, raspberry and biscuit.

Overall:

This pisco makes a great Pisco Sour. Hay, green grapes and biscuit with pear and faint raspberry jam.
