-15%The 2015 Chateau La Gurgue Margaux has turned out very nicely. Pliant, forward and supple, the 2015 offers quite a bit of near and medium-term appeal. Sweet red berry, tobacco, menthol, licorice and crushed flowers add nuance that was not evident.
Chateau La Gurgue Margaux is a tiny Margaux property, with just 26 acres in production, producing one of the appellation’s finest-value wines. It was acquired in 1978 by Jacques Merlaut and his daughter Bernadette Villars, who already owned Chateau Chasse-Spleen; since 1993 it has been the property of Bernadette’s daughter Claire Villars-Lurton, who also owns three other Bordeaux chateaux.
A stylish array of chocolate, earth and dark berries leads to a palate that follows in the same vein of flavors with blackberry compote. The finish is cast amid plush, open-knit tannins. Great depth here.
A classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, this is a muscular and toned Bordeaux with firm and chewy tannins, polished texture, and a flavorful finish.
Barrel Sample. This Chateau La Gurgue Margaux wine offers fine fruit characteristics and plenty of acidity. It has structure while also reveling in attractive black-currant flavors. The wine is already balanced and will develop well.

Mulled plum, blackberry, and black cherry fruit glide along with singed vanilla and sandalwood notes. The silky, black tea–infused finish is relatively open-knit, with a light tarry echo for the added spine. Best from 2019 through 2028.
ruby plum.
Notes of small red fruits and violet.
