The 2015 Château la Fleur Peyrabon has an attractive bouquet, quite a lot of new oak, but there is decent plump red berry fruit underneath to support that. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe red fruit, svelte in texture with a fine bead of acidity, a subtle savory note on the finish.
Though the new oak is heavy compared to others, hopefully, it will be absorbed during bottle age, and this might turn into a “useful” and (to use an oxymoron) “affordable Pauillac”.
Fresh and focused, with a racy beam of cassis and blackberry compote flavors carried by a long, bright iron streak. Pleasantly austere through the finish, with the fruit matching the minerality nicely. Best from 2019 through 2023.
Château la is the Pauillac-appellation portion of a larger vineyard, Château Peyrabon, which is in the Haut-Médoc. The wine is rich, perfumed, and likely to age very well. Juicy acidity and firm texture go with the black-currant fruit in a wine that will become balanced and elegant.
This 2015 Château la Fleur Peyrabon displays a purple-tinted dense red colour. This Pauillac gives off a light woody note (because aged in oak barrels), but also has a good texture that will digest the wood. On swirling, this Chateau La Fleur Peyrabon Cru Bourgeois softens by expressing dark berry aromas, mainly dominated by blueberry and a hint of liquorice. The palate is well-built on perfectly ripped quality tannins with a refreshing sap. This wine is robust and promising.
