The craft and art of Black Button Distilling whiskey-making has always involved a degree of looking backwards; the drink itself is an expression of captured aging – a history experienced in each sip. You can’t seem to separate the making of a new whiskey from the history of the process, the history of the maker, and the history of the location in which the spirit is distilled.
Our mash bill combines a unique blend of local corn, wheat, rye and malted barley. Each grain 100% NY state grown and distilled in Rochester, NY. Aromas of fresh oak, toffee and leather. Light caramel and vanilla flavors deliver a clean finish.
Appearance / Color:
Warm Amber.
Nose / Aroma / Smell:
The aroma is lively with notes of crisp herbs, blackberries, some florals from the barley influence, and a bit of leather.
Flavor / Taste / Palate:
The complex palate is layered, robust, and bright with notes of Angostura Orange Bitters, melons, charred oak, and a dark caramel sweetness on the back palate.
Finish:
The finish is surprisingly smooth for its youth with a hint of sweetness.
