The story of Woodinville Straight Bourbon Whiskey Co. starts in 2010 with two best friends — founders Orlin Sorensen and Brett Carlile. They set out to create a great craft Whiskey, and these two gentlemen started things off right by enlisting the help of industry icon David Pickerell — the former master distiller at Maker’s Mark. So although their business is young, they’ve already won both Craft Whiskey of the Year and Craft Rye Whiskey of the Year for two years running from the American Distilling Institute.
hey take their fully matured 5-year straight bourbon and transfer it into Tawny Port barrels for 6 additional months. The Port finishing process adds a viscous mouthfeel with notes of candied cherry, dried plums, berries and chocolate.
This expression is based on the finished 5-year-old Straight Bourbon, which spends an additional 6 months in ruby port barrels that add additional fruity and chocolate notes to the rich bourbon profile.
Rich aromas of crème brûlée and various spices.
Decadent notes of rich caramel, and vanilla bean. While the port-cask finish brings trace notes of candied cherries, and chocolate.
