Whistlepig Homestock Rye Whiskey
It’s the fourth batch of WhistlePig HomeStock Rye Whiskey, though this time it’s been renamed HomeStock, as the community of of whiskey fans created their blends safely socially-distancing at home before coming together online to taste and vote for the final recipe! It was made with a combination of 45% rye, 30% wheat and 25% barley, showcasing the classic WhistlePig rye spiciness, mellowed by creamy, vanilla-rich notes.
The fourth limited-edition release in WhistlePig’s FarmStock series, HomeStock, was created during the world’s first virtual crowd blending experience and is made with a combination of rye, wheat and barley whiskies. The palate offers notes of soft vanilla, rye spice, toffee apples and rich coffee.
WhistlePig HomeStock Rye Whiskey was released in the spring of 2020. It is a blend of rye, wheat, and barley whiskeys with Flaviar members deciding the blend after being sent blending kits at home. The blend is as follows: 45% 4 year-old rye whiskey from Vermont (aged in Vermont oak); 30% 5 year-old wheat whisky from Canada (aged in char #1); 25% 5 year-old barley whisky from Canada (aged in char #3). Bottled at 43% ABV.
This blend was co-created during the time of social distancing by the WhistlePig community. Flaviar members and WhistlePig fans worked on 3 blends together, after which they proceeded with the tasting and voting for a winner — all from the comfort of their homes.
Rounded orange and lemon, waves of caramel, a hint of pepper leading to subtle oaky warmth.
