Our Virginia Distillery Company Port highland malt whisky is crafted from Scottish malt whisky and finished in Virginia port-style wine casks. For each batch, we hand-select and blend together less than 30 barrels, creating a bottle that melds the traditional toffee and sweet malt notes of a highland whisky with the rich fruit and syrupy tones of ruby port.
Proud to offer the VHW series, made from 100% malted barley. Showcasing the traditions of whisky-making around the world and the influence of our home in the New World. Marrying our American Single Malt whisky made in Virginia with aged Scotch malt whisky, yielding a distinguished and complex spirit.
Offerings in the VHW series include Port Cask Finished Whisky, Cider Cask Finished Whisky, Brewers Batch and Chardonnay Cask Finished Whisky.
VHW Port Cask Finished Whisky is made from 100% malted barley, marrying American Single Malt whisky made on-site in Virginia with aged Scotch malt whisky. A focus on finishing in Port casks for a minimum of 12 months adds depth and complexity.
Virginia Distillery Company Port whisky is made from 100% malted barley which includes whisky sourced from Scotland and the Virginia distillery’s own whisky distilled from a malt mash. The finishing casks formerly held port-style wine produced in Virginia. Bottled at 92 proof, this is the distillery’s flagship whisky.
