One of the more recent ones, Catcher’s Rye, we reviewed to rather mixed results earlier this year. Innovation is again striking this distillery, as they’ve just unveiled a new peated bourbon known as J. Riddle Peated Bourbon. It’s distilled from 79% Michigan corn and 21% English barley, and bottled at 91 proof.

Two James Spirits is proud to announce the release of our newest spirit, J. Riddle Peated Bourbon. This unique spirit pairs the sweet robust flavor of corn bourbon with the elegant smokiness of single malt whiskey. The mash bill possesses subtle notes of vanilla, buttered popcorn, sea salt, fresh cut grass and light smoke.

Nose:

The nose shows it high corn percentage with aromas of dry corn husk, brown butter, snicker doodle dough, and a just there peat/earth note.

Palate:

The palate echoes the nose with a flavor set of cookie dough, funnel cakes.

Finish:

A light hop/peat note on the finish.
