Two James Catchers Rye Whiskey 750ml

Distilled from 100% Michigan rye and pure water from the Great Lakes, Two James Catcher’s Rye is a testament to the grain’s distinctive terroir. Each drop is artfully produced and aged for a minimum of two years in traditional, charred new American oak 53 gallon barrels. With delicious spice notes and a subtle fig finish, Catcher’s Rye proves there is no substitute for time or proportion. This is a labor of love, accept no phonies.

Founded in 2013, Two James Spirits is the first distillery to open in Detroit since the end of Prohibition. Founders David Landrum and Peter Bailey named the distillery after their fathers, both named “James.” Their Catcher’s Rye Whiskey is made from 100% Michigan-grown rye and water from the Great Lakes, for a distinct flavor and homage to the state’s terroir. It is then aged a minimum of two years in new, charred American oak barrels before being bottled at 49.4% ABV.

Two James makes Catcher’s Rye Whiskey (a play on the book, Catcher in the Rye) by distilling from 100% Michigan rye and pure water from the Great Lakes. A sense of place (of both Michigan and Detroit) is imprinted in the DNA of Two James.

Nose:

Amber in color with a nose of clove and honey.

Palate:

Caramel apple characterizes the initial taste, as does nutmeg and brown sugar. Softer initially, the mid-palate pops sharply with notes of cardamom and cinnamon.

Finish:

The rye mellows and finishes with burnt vanilla sugar and dark chocolate.
