Corn, rye, wheat, and malted barley round out this small batch artisanal bourbon whiskey. Whole grain fermentation ensures full flavor and mouthfeel. The layered profile includes notes of praline and vanilla. Our Four Grain is the “easy sipping” whiskey in the Hudson line and often ignites the whiskey passion in those who are just starting to develop their palates.
Before the intense distilling process begins, Tuthilltown Hudson Bourbon Whiskey sources up to 90% of the grains that go into their Four Grain Bourbon from within ten miles of the distillery. They support local farmers and a greener planet. Better-tasting, low-yield heirloom grains mean better tasting whiskey. Good grains in. Great whiskey out. This special bourbon is aged in petite new American oak barrels for more wood contact, giving it more depth, character and a warm, soothing finish.
Up in New York, Hudson Four Grain bourbon is made using the Tuthilltown Hudson Bourbon Whiskey distillery’s unique recipe of corn, rye, wheat and malted barley. Hold on a minute, that’s four grains – like what the name says! Tuthilltown Spirits were producers of the first legal pot-still whiskey in New York since prohibition. Four Grain is aged in small three-gallon barrels to accelerate maturation, and each bottle is numbered and wax-dipped by hand. The interaction of the four grains is intriguing and rather unique.
Nose: Gentle notes of nutmeg, orange peel, mint and a hint of vanilla, with a touch of pencil shavings.
Palate: Freshly baked bread, a dusting of cinnamon, oak, slightly toasted caramel, more zesty orange and a touch of menthol, dark chocolate praline and creamy vanilla.
Finish: Mint lingers, along with buttered toast and a handful of fresh fruit.
Appearance: The mood is set well with the olde tyme elixir bottle. It pours easily, and the spirit is an eye-catching burnt orange; inviting. Legs are medium thick and somewhat fast.
