Thrashers Spiced Rum 750ml

Thrasher’s Spiced Rum doesn’t have to be sweet and sugary. Our version is a dry spice-forward spirit that imparts flavors of fall and winter. Featuring an aromatic mixture of Star Anise, Clove, Allspice, Cinnamon, Vanilla, and Orange Peels. This flavorful spice blend is further steeped for 4 days with our signature White Rum for added depth. The result is a bold and zesty rum that can be either sipped or mixed. No sugar is added at the end of distillation.

Todd Thrasher, the likable wine and spirits devotee, earned a name for himself during his long and fruitful tenure at Restaurant Eve and Society Fair, and at his highly praised spirits program and the first progressive speakeasy in the Mid-Atlantic, Bar PX.

Thrasher’s Spiced Rum has branched out on his own with Potomac Distilling Company, an urban rum distillery, and watering hole, anchoring the west end of The Wharf, the newest development along DC’s waterfront.

Thrasher keeps the rum-sodden cocktails pouring with three bar areas, retail shop, garden rooftop dining and hangout, and most with especially an on-site distillery producing Thrasher’s Rum. Pop in to see the process up close in a private tour, where samples are happily doled out to tasters.

The three-story space also features an authentically designed Polynesian style lounge and bar, Tiki TNT, brimming with genuine elements of exotic touches of the South Pacific – bamboo woods, grass roof, and an open, airy ambiance – a stark contrast to the theatrical take of Tiki bars begun in the 1950s.

Testing notes:

Light citrus zest with vanilla backbone. After a bit of time in the glass, funk and smoke linger. The rum has a soft, subtle heat with a coating mouthfeel, finishing round and soft. Notes of butterscotch and orange peel are present at the end. This is the perfect rum for a traditional Daiquiri.
