The Arran 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Following on from the previous limited edition 18 year old, Arran 18 year old has now become part of the core range! It’s bottled without chill-filtration or artificial colouring.
Following 2015’s limited-edition first release, Arran has now added its 18-year-old whisky to the core range. A rich and complex whisky, with notes of citrus, orchard fruit, milk brioche and dark chocolate.
In February 2015, Isle of Arran Distillers celebrated its 21st Birthday by adding this 18 year old single malt to its core range of whisky. Produced from un-peated malted barley, aged in ex-sherry hogsheads and bottled without chill-filtration or caramel colouring.
Bottled at 46% ABV, the Arran 18 Year Old is a limited edition single malt that is the final bottling in a trilogy of 16, 17 and 18-year-olds. Matured in the very best ex-sherry casks, this is a rich, lush whisky which hints of ginger and dark chocolate.
The reason the distillery was built here,” says James MacTaggart, the master distiller at Arran Distillery, “was because there was a very good water supply. In fact, it was tasted and it was decided that it was probably one of the best water supplies in Scotland for making whisky.
Sweet orchard fruits with syrup and toasted oak. Vanilla and light cinnamon spice.
Sweetness dances on the tongue with chocolate, ginger, caramelised brown sugar and vanilla. Water uncovers floral notes and aromatic orange fondant creams.
