Stranahan’s Diamond Peak Colorado Whiskey
This limited-edition whiskey is made from a selection of Stranahan’s oldest casks, which are aged in a mile-high Denver warehouse. As a result, Stranahan’s diamond peak colorado whiskey has an aroma of dried apricots, leather, and banana bread that gives way to notes of breakfast cereal, toffee, honey, and oak on the palate. The finish boldly mingles flavors of bread pudding, tropical fruits, and barley, and lingers endlessly on the tongue.
Mellow on the nose, with hints of warm banana bread, cinnamon, spiced apples, and walnuts are present but subtle. The palate is sweet and light. Apple and oak are the first flavors that pop out on the first sip. The finish brings a nice mix of heat and light flavors.
Stranahan’s was founded in 2004 by Jess Graber and George Stranahan, owner of Flying Dog Brewery. This Colorado American Single Malt Whiskey is made entirely of barley. For the Diamond Peak bottling, select barrels are chosen after four years in char #3 barrels for the batch.
Stranahan’s Diamond Peak whiskey is then brought down to 94 proof with Colorado Rocky Mountain spring water. Note: In 2019, Stranahan’s revamped the recipe for this whiskey using a solera process. Check your label: if the solera process is discussed you have the new recipe.
