St. George Pear Brandy 700ml
St. George Pear Brandy
There’s a reason why people call the St. George Pear Brandy Spirits founder Jörg Rupf “the patron saint of American eau-de-vie”. When he founded the craft distillery in 1982, he made eaux-de-vie using the delicious fruits growing in Californian orchards, including a Pear Brandy. This was during a time when very few Americans knew what eau-de-vie was, but Jörg started something big – the American craft distilling movement, something that almost everyone in the USA knows about.
This unaged fruit brandy from the USA has a “wonderfully clean and intense pear taste” because 30 pounds of Bartlett pears go into each 750ml bottle. The fruit is fermented for ten days and then distilled in a copper still in a single run. This process means that you can still savour the taste and smell of fresh pears as you sip it.
Over 30 years later and delicious St. George Pear Brandy is still being made by St. George Spirits using organic Bartlett pears. It has an incredible aroma of perfectly ripe pears, vibrant and fruity. Absolutely top stuff.
St. George Pear Brandy was one of the first products made by St. George Pear Brandy Spirits after they were founded in 1982. They start with whole organic Bartlett pears, picked at the height of ripeness and distill in copper pot-stills. The goal here, as with all great eau-de-vie is to create a pure unaffected expression of the base distillate. About 30 pounds of fruit are used to create just one 750ml bottle.
Freshly prepared Pear Tarte Tatin with crispy pastry and an extra sprinkle of cinnamon. Maybe even a slice of apple pie alongside.
Firm but juicy pear flesh, pear peel and old fashioned pear drops coated with plenty of icing sugar.
The finish is warming with cinnamon and icing sugar lasting.
Pure and simple, it’s everything you could want from pear eau-de-vie.
