Schladerer Williams Birne Pear Brandy

Schladerer Williams Birne Pear was first made in 1957 and quickly became one of the most important products in the Schladerer range. It is made using pears from the local region (Markgräflerland, Breisgau, Kaiserstuhl), France (Ardèche, Drôme, Isère, and Savoie) and Italy (Trentino and Lombardy).

The most full-bodied fruits grow at altitudes of 300 to 800 meters. To help avoid damage during transportation, they are harvested shortly before ripening and turning green to yellow or red. The fruit is generally mashed three to four days after arrival at the distillery.

Schladerer is a family-run distillery company founded in 1844 in Staufen, Germany. This is their Williams-Birne (Pear) brandy. Made using locally grown pears, this makes a delicious after-dinner drink.

Golden-yellow and harvested at their peak, our Williams pears are processed without delay. The cooled fermentation protects the intensive, fruity aromas that are accompanied by hints of mace, pepper, and pimento. The first impression is very mild and inviting, before giving way to the wonderful aroma of ripe, juicy pears.

Schladerer Williams Birne Pear originates from Germany’s historic Black Forest when over 160 years ago, Sixtus Schladerer began making fruit brandies for guests at his restaurant. Schladerer fruit brandies are best served slightly chilled and neat and are excellent as a digestif after a meal. They can be mixed with Champagne or sparkling wine, then garnished with the corresponding fruit, or add 1 oz.

Aroma:

Aromatic ripe pear flesh and green pear skin.

Taste:

Pear skin rather than soft juicy flesh but delightfully so. Dry, wonderfully clean, and fresh with light peppery spirit.

Aftertaste:

Long finish with pear juice and pear skin. Dry with some woody tannins.

Overall:

Dry and complex. Wonderfully aromatic and superbly clean. Bone dry finish.
