Don Papa Small Batch Rum 750ml
A richly flavoursome rum from the Philippines, inspired by the story of Papa Isio, who played a big part in the late-19th century Philippine revolution. Don Papa Small Batch rum itself is made using sugar cane grown on the island of Negros in the Philippines and matured in oak barrels for 7 years, after which it is blended and bottled.
Don Papa Small Batch Rum was first created in 2012 and made it to the UK two years later. Distilled in small batches from sugar cane grown on the Philippines island of Negros and aged in American oak for 7 years. This is packed with vanilla flavours and a hint of spice.
Don Papa Small Batch Rum is distilled from sugarcane grown on the island of Negros, one of 7,500 islands in the Philippines. In the volcanic foothills of Mount Kanlaon, this rum matures for up to 7 years in barrels made from American oak before it is blended for bottling. Look closely on the label (thoughtfully designed in New York) and you’ll find animals native to the country like the gecko and tarsier. Available in the US beginning May 2017.
Intensely sweet aromas of vanilla bean, orange peels, cooked custard and caramelized corn pudding – a nose that keeps giving and seems suited as much for pastry-making as drinking. On the palate, candied yams, creme brulée and tons of intense sweetness. It’s as much like a vanilla liqueur as it is a rum.
Fruity notes up front, with sweet tangerines and apricots. This is followed by vanilla ice-cream, drizzled with runny toffee sauce.
Bags-full of vanilla and cinnamon. Hints of raisin, sultana and marmalade.
Medium length with punchy cinnamon.
Rather exciting stuff.
