Another addition to Ron Barcelo Imperial Onyx’s already exceptional collection of rums comes Barceló Imperial Onyx from the Dominican Republic. Made up of a blend of rums aged for 10 years in heavily charred bourbon casks, this expression was filtered through onyx stones (hence the name) prior to bottling. Each production stage makes for a rich and complex rum.
Ron Barcelo Imperial Onyx is a blend of rums, aged for 10 years in ex-bourbon barrels with a “heavy char” grade. Filtered through onyx stones, which give Barceló Imperial Onyx the mysticism that characterizes this rum of unprecedented intensity.
It is uniquely different from other Dominican rums because it is made from the fermented juice of sugar cane and not from molasses. The result is a smoother, more well-rounded taste that showcases the true characteristics of the sugar cane.
Amber mahogany color, with a robust and structured body and a grand character. Toasted aromas, with a subtle touch of cherry, coffee, and dried fruits, deep notes of wood and vanilla. In the mouth, intense sensations that end with a long and persistent aftertaste. Barceló Imperial Onyx is best enjoyed straight-up or over ice so as to fully appreciate its remarkably robust and full-bodied taste.
This deep amber-hued rum offers a caramel aroma, with an intriguing hint of violet. The silky palate opens with caramel and brown butter, accented by dried fig and walnut, finishing long and gently spiced. Made with a blend of rums aged for 10 years in ex-Bourbon casks with heavy char, then filtered through onyx stones. That unique filtration may not add much except a point to contemplate while sipping, which is highly encouraged.
