Reyka Small Batch Vodka is an Icelandic vodka, distilled from wheat and barley. It is also the world’s first “green” vodka, it being made from glacial water and distilled using sustainable energy from geothermal heat. This vodka is produced in Iceland- land of Bjork, vikings and (according to Anthony Bourdain) some of the most inedible food in the world.
Overall, this is a clean and neutral vodka that’s smooth and nicely balanced. It’s muscular enough for chilled martinis, but is laced with subtle, delicate notes of candied lemon peel and coriander. Distilled from grain and “filtered through ancient arctic lava rocks.
Reyka’s distillery is located in the town of Bogarnes on the west coast of Iceland. Reyka Small Batch Vodka is distilled in small batches to ensure exceptional quality. Each distillation takes about 6 hours and makes only 255 cases. By vodka standards that’s tiny. It is filtered through lava rock and the water used to bring the vodka to proof is arctic spring water. The distillery is powered by geothermal energy from underground volcanoes. Not only is it environmentally friendly, it’s fun to talk about at cocktail parties.
