Old Pulteney 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70cl

A rich, elegant single malt that’s part of Old Pulteney’s new range for 2018. This Old Pulteney 15 Year old single malt has been matured in both ex-bourbon and Spanish oak casks.

Enjoyably coastal single malt from the Old Pulteney range, launched in 2018 alongside three other excellent expressions. Excellent stuff from this much-celebrated distillery in the Highlands.

This 15 year old from Old Pulteney is one of the most balanced single malts in the range. Matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks and finished in Spanish oak, spice and sweetness combines with the refreshing coastal notes for which Old Pulteney is famed.

The nose has rich dried fruit and honey bursts with a creamy vanilla base note, along with some chocolate and floral hints. The palate brings fragrant spices and Christmas cake, before toffee and chocolate mingling with sea salt in the finish.

Released in August 2018, this is one of three new products released along with Huddart and 18 Year. This 15 year single malt matured in second-fill American oak ex-bourbon and then finished its maturation on first-fill Spanish oak ex-oloroso butts. Bottled at 46% ABV.

This 15 year old from Old Pulteney, The Maritime Malt, is one of the most balanced expressions in the range, benefiting from finishing in Spanish oak for a sweeter profile than the 12 Year Old.

Nose:

Toffee, coffee and sultanas. Balanced sweetness of toffee and sea spray salinity.

Palate:

Salted caramel cookies, green apple sharpness, sea salt and straw.

Finish:

Chocolate with red chilli. A hint of spiced rum warmth.
