Maker’s Mark Bourbon Whiskey
This one changed the way we think of bourbon, all because one man changed the way he thought about making it. Bill Samuels, Sr., simply wanted a whisky he would enjoy drinking. Never bitter or sharp, Maker’s Mark Bourbon Whiskey is made with soft red winter wheat, instead of the usual rye, for a one-of-a-kind, full-flavored bourbon that’s easy to drink. To ensure consistency, we rotate every barrel by hand and age our bourbon to taste, not time. Each and every bottle of Maker’s is still hand-dipped in our signature red wax at our distillery in Loretto, Ky., just like Bill, Sr. would have wanted.
One of the rising stars in the premium bourbon market, with a growing following in the UK due to its distinctive looks and exceptional quality.
Maker’s Mark Bourbon Whiskey maintain that they distil their bourbon to the lowest proof of any US whiskey distillery. This proffers a bourbon that retains a rich flavour. Developed by Bill Samuels Sr, he replaced rye with red winter wheat to reduce the burning sensation from the whiskey.
Maker’s Mark Bourbon Whiskey is regarded by many as being the first Kentucky Straight Bourbon to market itself as a ‘premium’ brand. It is also noted for its high corn content and being blended in batches of 150 casks which fill around 3,000 cases.
Fruity and rich. There are lovely notes of spiced honey and mixed peels, a little malmsey, hazelnut and a touch of cut fruit with toasty oak providing a backbone.
Rich and full. There are notes of rye and spice, barley malt, a little nut oil with butterscotch and vanilla.
Quite sweet with butterscotch and dry oak spice.
