Macallan Classic Cut Limited Edition 2019 is adored for its gingerbread, orange zest, creamy vanilla, and toasted oak flavor notes. Macallan Classic Limited Edition was launched by Macallan in 2017 and might be considered on homage to The Macallan from an era gone by – before the launch of the Fine Oak when bourbon casks made their introduction here. It’s a yearly returning limited release that matured solely on sherry casks. Sherry seasoned casks, to be clear. It is bottled at cask strength. Mine, from 2019, sports 52.9% ABV.
The first thing I notice is the oak! Unexpected and not what I was hoping for. But leave it to breathe for five minutes and all is well. More than well, in fact, it turns wonderfully aromatic on fresh figs, strawberries, dates, and stewed quince. Give it even more time and it turns a bit candy-like. Red lace candy and fruit roll-ups.
Spicy and mouth coating. Creamy in fact. The taste offers sultanas, red fruit in a stew, and loads of spices. Baker’s spices, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, and even some black pepper.

The aroma is powerful with blasts of candied oranges, rancio, nutmeg, and roasted nuts.
Flavor / Taste / Palate
With just a drop of water and a few minutes wait for a wonderful palate bloom of gingerbread, orange zest, toasted oak, and vanilla.
The finish is different for everyone, but to our palate the finish is rich and lightly sweet with a sultana essence.
