Macallan 18 Year Highland Scotch Whisky
Macallan 18 Year Highland Fine Oak Speyside single malt Scotch whisky. Triple cask matured in European and American sherry oak and bourbon casks. The Macallan Fine Oak 18 Years Old forms part of the Fine Oak range and is matured for a minimum of eighteen years in three exceptional oak cask types. This complex combination of casks delivers tropical flavours balanced with wood smoke.
This Speyside single malt is matured in Sherry oak casks from Jerez, Spain, for a minimum of 18 years. The amber spirit has a big, warm caramel flavor, finishing with a touch of sweet honey, bitter chocolate and espresso on the lingering finish. Viscous, creamy mouthfeel.
Macallan 18 Year Highland expression is, for me, the highlight of its regular sherried range. Deep amber in color. The nose is rich and heavily fruited: fruit cake, mulberry, a little moist gingerbread, the bloody depths of molasses. On the palate, dried fruits — more figgy than raisined — while the natural oiliness in the spirit balances the boisterous tannins from the European oak. A singed note on the finish (an extension of the molasses?) completes the picture. Balanced and complex.
An 18 year old single malt from Macallan, distilled all the way back in 1968 and matured exclusively in sherry oak casks. These bottlings are very rare indeed, and highly sought after.
Triple Cask Matured 18 Years Old was previously known as Fine Oak 18 Years Old and offers the same extraordinarily smooth, delicate yet complex character with a new name, new bottle and bold new packaging.
Exotic dried petals with coconut and vanilla orange citrus.
Soft and velvety with orange citrus, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon.
Lingering with chocolate orange and a hint of wood smoke.
