King Car distillery is located in Yilan County, Taiwan, and the Kavalan Classic Whisky produced there is named after the indigenous people who originally inhabited this northeastern corner of the island: the Kavalan.
Kavalan Classic Single Malt Whisky exemplifies the sheer quality of whisky coming out of Taiwan. The craftsmanship of the distillery works with the humid Taiwanese climate to create whisky that is diverse and complex. Fresh and clean, the spirit is rich with silky smoothness and hints of tropical fruits, mango in particular.
Although the distillery was only brought on stream in 2005, the warm sub-tropical climate means that the whisky effectively matures more quickly and an impressive range of whiskies are available. This Kavalan Single Malt Whisky, for example was awarded a Gold Medal at the 2011 International Wine & Spirits Competition.
Lively and passionate amber in appearance. Clean, elegant, floral (pleasant and refreshing fragrance of the butterfly orchid), fruity and seductive. With hints of honey, tropical fruits (mango in particular), pear drop, vanilla, coconuts and suggestions of chocolate. A hint of sweet mango juice with that spicy complexity and gentle warmth on a medium, oily and citrus finish. Kavalan classic is the perfect partner for seafood.
The Kavalan Classic Whisky from Taiwan’s Kavalan. Only operating since 2005 they have wowed the world with their young but full flavoured whisky, concentrating on their signature flavours of tropical fruit. Taiwanese distillery Kavalan was founded in 2005 and released its first bottling in 2008. Quickly winning awards for its single malts, Kavalan has been rising in popularity since its opening.
