Gordon & Macphail Mortlach 25 Year Single Malt Scotch
Gordon & Macphail Mortlach in Dufftown has garnered quite a following over the years, even without a flagship bottling. So much so that the owners have decided to finally release a distillery bottling. This is not that, which retails for nearly $1000– it is in fact much more delicious! Old-school rugged Mortlach, from a mixture of refill Hoggies and sherry butts, using the old original distillery label that G&M owns from when they bottled for the previous owners. They’re smart so they kept those old trademarks, and now we reap the benefits.
A rich, sherried Mortlach 25 Year Old with notes of crème Brulee, orange marmalade, sultanas, and dark chocolate. Bottled by Gordon & MacPhail from the first fill and refill sherry casks, this is part of the new-look Distillery Labels series, which pays homage to the unique ‘house’ label given by the independent bottler to each distillery with which it works.
This range is testimony to the long and unique relationships built over generations. Gordon & MacPhail have been entrusted with new-make spirit from many of Scotland’s distilleries to mature in carefully selected casks and conditions. Offering interesting complementary perspectives on already great single malts, this highly sought-after collection features the original distillery labels, making these whiskies even more distinct.
An independent bottling of Gordon & Macphail Mortlach which has been matured for 25 years and bottled at 43% ABV. This expression was released as part of Gordon & MacPhail’s Distillery labels series and features a handsome retro label.
