Frey Ranch Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Nestled in the heart of the Lake Tahoe Watershed just outside of Fallon, Nevada since 1854 is Frey Ranch Straight Bourbon. There are less than 3,000 farms in the Silver State as water rights make agriculture a less lucrative business. Farming coincides with whiskey, and just as there is an art to distilling there is an art to farming. Fifth-generation farmer and CEO Colby Frey saw an opportunity to expand his farming expertise into distillation and considers himself a “whiskey farmer.”
A spicy, sweet bourbon from Frey Ranch, made with a combination of corn, winter cereal rye, winter wheat and two-row barley grown in the Sierra Nevada Watershed. Aromas of orange, honey, cinnamon and candied peel fill the nose, complemented by notes of vanilla, caramel, mint, banana, candy corn, hay and black pepper throughout the palate.
Oak & citrus aromas are met by hints of honey, burnt orange peel and candied orange in a dry, medium intensity. Vanilla and caramel lead way to dried mint, banana chips, candy corn, and dried hay with a long finish of cedar, pepper and treacle.
Frey Ranch Straight Bourbon is made entirely from farming the grain to bottling on the brand’s estate in Fallon, Nevada. This inaugural bourbon release is a four-grain bourbon made from non-GMO corn, winter cereal rye, winter wheat, and two-row barley. Aged for at least 4 years, it is bottled without chill-filtration at 90 proof. Available now in Nevada with plans for Northern California in spring 2020.
