Foursquare Rum Distillery Premise Single Blended Rum
The eighth bottling from the Exceptional Cask series and the third bottling released in 2018 alongside Dominus and 2005, Foursquare Rum Distillery Premise is a blend of pot and column distilled rums that were matured for ten years in total: three years in ex-bourbon casks before being transferred to ex-sherry casks where it was matured for a further seven years. It was bottled in January 2018 at 46% ABV.
Very easy to drink, this new rum from Foursquare was aged in both bourbon and sherry casks for a decade, adding layers of vanilla, brown sugar, tropical fruit, and spice. A blend of both pot- and column still rums, this is destined to be another classic from rum maestro Richard Seale.
Released in January 2018, this rum is a blend of pot and column still rums distilled at Foursquare. It was aged for 10 years in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry barrels and bottled at 92 proof. It is the 8th release or mark in the Exceptional Cask Selection series from the brand.
Foursquare Rum Distillery, St. Philip, Barbados really should need no introduction. Originally set up by Reginald Leon Seale, the great-great-grandfather of the current Master Blender and Distiller Richard Seale, the distillery has become the byword for classic Caribbean rum. Richard Seale is an absolute iconoclast who has turned the rum world on its head.
Confectionary vanilla, toasted oak, and a hint of red berries initially, before a light trickle of spices and syrupy peaches emerge.
The cask influence is more prominent on the palate, with lots of baking spice, and fortified wine notes. A hint of sharp lemon develops among more rounded notes of stone fruits and marmalade.
Lengthy and pleasant.
