Dos Maderas Caribbean Rum 5 + 3
The maturation process for this Caribbean rum begins in Barbados and Guyana, within oak casks of American oak. After five years, the Dos Maderas Caribbean Rum is sent to Jerez de la Frontera where it is transferred to casks previously used to age 20 year sherry “Dos Cortados” and finished for an additional three years. Hence the name “5 + 3.” This is bottled at 37.5% ABV. A blend of 5 year old Bajan and Guyanaese rums (aged in American oak), which is then sent over to Jerez for a further maturation in Dos Cortado Palo Cortado Sherry casks.
A blend of aged rums from Guyana and Barbados, which are shipped to Williams & Humbert in Spain. The Dos Maderas Caribbean Rum are then blended and aged for a further three years in ex-sherry casks, giving the finished product a wonderful sweetness and depth.
This Dos Maderas Caribbean Rum is an aged rum with a two-stage maturing process. First rested in American Oak Casks for 5 years in the Caribbean then moved sherry casks for 3 years in Spain. Notes of honey, butterscotch, and salt with a spicy finish. Aged for five years in the Caribbean, the rum is double-barreled for an additional three years and rested in Spain.
