Made exclusive Bacco 22, this wonderful little domaine is producing some seriously good bas-Armagnac. Domaine D’esperance 1993 is full of earthy spice. It owes its rich texture and deep complexity to very high-quality distillation/aging and the typical sandy clay soils of the region.

Domaine D’esperance 1993 was the original basis for the business: single vintage, cask-strength, single domain Armagnacs bottled to order. No additives are used for the Collection series, and none of these Armagnacs are ever blended. Each is marked with the month and year of bottling so that the buyer knows exactly how long the spirit rested in the barrel.

Each vintage has its own personality, its own style. Usually dry fruits or oranges or prunes.

The same for its strength, its complexity, its lightness. each vintage is different.

Grape varieties:  Either Baco 22 A or Folle Blanche.

Vinification: Traditional and natural vinification. The wine is very low in alcohol and is distilled quickly after the end of fermentation.

Distillation: With a continuous traditional still, at a low degree (52/54%), to retain most of the wines’ flavors. Each grape-variety is distilled separately.

Aging:

The brandy is poured at first into a new barrel, then into an older one.  It can become a vintage after 10 years of aging in casks. The casks (410-430 liters) are made out of Gascon pedunculated oak. The year of vintage corresponds to the year of distillation; the date of the bottling is mentioned on the back label. Armagnac will not age anymore in bottles.

At Domaine d’Espérance, we choose only the exceptional casks to sell them under their vintage year and with the number of the barrel on the back label. They will be at their natural strength (angels’ share), no sweetener or small waters will be added.

Alcool: from 43% to 49% depending on the vintage.

Tasting:

After a meal: drink slowly, warming up your glass in your hand to sniff and appreciate slowly all the aromas.
