Diplomatico Distillery Collection Batch No. 2 Barbet Rum
The Diplomatico Distillery Collection was launched to show off the styles of rum that go to make their fantastic expressions. The second release in the range was named after the Barbet column still which arrived at Diplomático’s distillery back in 1959 from France.
The second in a limited-edition series from acclaimed Venuezelan rum producers Diplomatico Distillery, this is a smooth, fruity rum that has gained extra complexity from its oak aging. The name of this bottling comes from the Barbet Column Still – brought to Diplomático’s La Miel distillery 1959 – in which the spirit is made.
The Rum Diplomatico N. 2 Barbet’ is an intense, rich, and very fruity expression of the prestigious Distillery Collection, produced from a special column still from France and aged for 4 years in American oak barrels. It has intense scents of ripe exotic fruits, noble woods, sweet spices, and dried fruits. The taste is full-bodied, smooth, and concentrated.
The Barbet Column distillation system, originally created in France was brought to Venezuela the same year as the Batch Kettle – 1959. The still is made of 100% copper, aiding the elimination of undesirable compounds that form during the fermentation process. Aged in x Bourbon barrels and produced from high-quality sugar cane molasses, the Barbet Column typically produces a distillate with a strong fruity profile.
This is part of the limited-edition Distillery Collection, which gives each of Diplomático’s distillates a chance to individually shine.
The nose reveals tropical fruit aromas well balanced by toasted oak notes, providing a distinctive bouquet.
Slightly dry on the palate with delicate wood and fresh citrus fruit flavors that combine for a pleasant, long-lasting finish.
