Clynelish distillery is near the town of Brora in the Scottish Highlands. It was built in 1967 to replace the old Clynelish distillery that is now called the Brora distillery. The original distillery was built in 1819 by the 1st Duke of Sutherland. The Duke was the wealthiest man in the United Kingdom at the time and was one of the most controversial people in Scottish history. The new distillery was built just across the road from the old distillery.
